Two Decades of Experience
This year marked a significant milestone as 21st Century Possibilities launched. President & CE), Dr. Hannah Gbenro, celebrated 21-years in education, earning her Superintendent Credential, and establishing innovative partnerships with schools & organizations in service of students.2016
Doctorate in Educational Leadership
Over the years, 21st Century Possibilities' President & CEO has earned degrees & credentials in education and business. In 2016, Dr. Gbenro completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership with double specializations in The Principalship and Business (MBA) through Seattle University. Dr. Gbenro also earned a certificate in Project Management through the University of Washingon in 2016.2002
The Start of Service
Our President & CEO, Dr. Hannah Gbenro, began her career in education as a special education para educator in 2002. This was followed by serving as a teacher, district instructional technology specialist, assistant principal, district director, and chief academic officer.
Our President & CEO, Dr. Hannah Gbenro is an educator, change agent, and social justice advocate. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership with dual specializations in Business & The Principalship, Master’s in Teacher Leadership, and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Hannah also holds K-12 Washington State credentials in The Superintendency, The Principalship, and Teaching. In California, she holds a credential for supporting students who are multilingual.
Dr. Gbenro has served at each level – elementary, middle,high, and district – over the last 20+ years. Dr. Gbenro's served as a paraeducator, teacher, instructional coach, school & district administrator, and chief academic officer in mid-size to large urban and suburban school districts within Washington and California.
Dr. Gbenro's also served as an adjunct faculty member. She’s experienced with continuous improvement at the school and district levels, having supervised the implementation of the district strategic plan and school improvement plans (SIPs). Dr. Gbenro has led the development and implementation of project management systems for continuous improvement and was trained in project management through the University of Washington Tacoma and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
On the non-profit side, Dr. Gbenro's served as president of the Washington State Association of Supervision & Curriculum Development (WSASCD) where she led statewide opportunities for educators to learn, such as the inaugural Washington State Whole Child Institute. She continues her volunteer work by serving on the board for the Neurodiversity Education Research Center (NERC).
Dr. Gbenro's been recognized for her leadership with research focused on standards-based education and mastery-based learning with awards from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the Washington Educational Research Association (WERA). Specifically, Dr. Gbenro's research has focused on implementing standards-based grading, curriculum, instruction, and assessment. She has also been recognized with awards for her leadership, innovation, and support of adult learning by WSASCD and ASCD International.
Dr. Gbenro has overseen the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Whole Child Services, Instructional Coaching Services, the Teacher & Principal Evaluation Program (TPEP), Title/LAP Services, Community & Family Partnerships, and other local, state, and federal regulatory programs & services within multiple school districts. She is an experienced leader from the classroom to the board room. Her leadership has involved advocacy efforts and anti-racist reform at the local and state levelsthrough her districts and service with WSASCD. She brings this passion for educators, students, and making a difference to her leadership as President & CEO of 21st Century Possibilities.
